What’s Your background?

I worked in Fintech and PE at McKinsey. I have been in startups for a few years, but OpenProsper is the first Web3 product I have built. 

What are you building on DeSo?

OpenProsper provides insights and analytics for creators on the DeSo blockchain. OpenProsper is the first social block explorer and is somewhat like etherscan. You can keep track of all the important data and analytics in the DeSo ecosystem with OpenProsper.

Why did you choose DeSo?

I was a user before I was a builder on DeSo. I was drawn to DeSo for the decentralized social media aspect. While using DeSo I had several questions and since the data was open, I built OpenProsper to answer those questions.

What do you like about building on DeSo?

There are two things that are exciting about DeSo:

1. Simple Web2 API-based architecture to make it easy to build on top of DeSo.

2. Friendly community that is willing to engage, provide feedback, and work together to improve the product.

On DeSo you don’t need to understand solidity or smart contracts to build a decentralized social media app. You can use your web2 skillset to build in web3.

What are some use cases for your app? 

OpenProsper is primarily for creators on DeSo. It helps creators understand relationships, money-native blockchain experiences, and content strategy to be successful on DeSo. How we work has changed forever and the creator economy is only going to get bigger over time.

DeSo has a wide range of tools for creators to monetize upfront. As a creator, data is important so you can continue to optimize your content and monetization efforts over time. OpenProsper gives you a dashboard with valuable data you can use as a creator to build your audience.

Why is building out decentralized social media important?

To me having a shared and open database where everyone can build their own experiences is powerful. The world's information is more centralized than banking is. There are hundreds of banks but only a few major social media networks. This limits the way creators can monetize on different platforms.

With decentralized social media, creators can find ways to monetize their content from the start rather than waiting to build an audience first.
